A quartz variety containing fibrous inclusions of crocidolite that have been replaced by silica. The chatoyancy — the cat-eye shimmer — is caused by light reflecting off parallel fibers within the stone.
Appearance
Golden-brown with bands of lighter and darker tones. The chatoyant shimmer moves across the surface as you rotate it, like a band of light following your movement.
